About the Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, an opportunity is available for an experienced Work Health, Safety and Environment (WHS&E;) Advisor to provide proactive safety, health, and environmental support to the business.

As a WHS&E; Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance across all site activities. You will work closely with project teams and subcontractors to identify risks, implement controls, and promote continuous improvement.

The role will require travel to project sites located within WA.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect, verify, collate and present statistics to identify trends in performance for the business

- Maintain and monitor key performance metrics for projects and provide regular updates in accordance with project requirements

- Assists with the development, upkeep and revision of site-specific project HSE Management Plans and Risk Registers, monitoring requirements within the plans are established, implemented, maintained, communicated, and understood

- Chair HAZOP and Construction Risk Assessment Workshops

- Provide advice and support to the workforce in achieving project health and safety objectives

- Conduct accident / incident investigation and reporting

- Carry out HSE inspections / audits as well as developing and delivering Prestart & toolbox talks

- Maintain training registers and assist with employee onboarding

- Drive innovation initiatives to continuously improve health and safety outcomes

- Promote and implement best-practice injury management and return-to-work principles





To be successful in this role, you will have

- Minimum 2 years’ experience on construction and infrastructure projects

- Proven experience engaging and managing contractors in high-risk environments

- Practical experience in health and safety risk management

- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation

- Experience maintaining safety management systems aligned with ISO 45001

- High level of computer literacy (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

Skills & Attributes

- Minimum 5-years’ experience as a Health, Safety, Environmental Practitioner within the construction industry

- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practices

- Ability to influence safety behaviours at all levels of the workforce

- Practical problem-solving skills

- Excellent time management and organisational skills

- Clear, confident communication and strong interpersonal skills

- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and influence leaders and site teams

- Experience with Water Corporation HSE requirements for Contractors

- The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening and provide a National Police Clearance

Qualifications

- Minimum Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (required)

- Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety (desirable)

- ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training (required)

- Lead Investigator (ICAM) qualification (required)

- Internal Auditor – WHS Management Systems qualification (desirable)

- Current “C” Class Western Australian Driver’s Licence (required)
