Infrastructure Engineer – SAS Administrator

- 12-month contract with possible extension
- Locations: QLD, ACT, VIC, SA, TAS (Hybrid working)
- Must be an Australian Citizen with a current NV1 Security Clearance

DFP Recruitment is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer – SAS Administrator for a Fed Gov client to support critical enterprise SAS infrastructure platforms that underpin large-scale data analytics capabilities within a Federal Government environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering, maintaining and enhancing SAS environments, ensuring the ongoing availability, performance, security and reliability of infrastructure supporting essential government services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Provide ongoing administration and operational support for SAS platforms, including SAS Viya and SAS Visual Analytics Enterprise (VEA).
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform and system issues, contributing to timely incident resolution.
- Plan, test and implement infrastructure patching and upgrades to meet security, compliance and operational requirements.
- Develop, maintain and review technical documentation, standard operating procedures and support guides.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and capacity, recommending and implementing continuous improvements.
- Support infrastructure maintenance, upgrades and lifecycle activities across enterprise environments.
- Configure and utilise infrastructure management tools and develop scripts to automate provisioning, deployment and operational tasks.
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing and availability management activities.
- Investigate operational issues, identify root causes and implement preventative measures to improve service reliability.




- Participate in systems design activities, assessing technical options, risks and infrastructure impacts.
- Lead or support infrastructure installation, implementation, migration and decommissioning activities.
- Collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders and project teams to deliver secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure solutions.

Mandatory Requirements:

1. Demonstrated experience administering enterprise SAS platforms, including SAS Viya and/or SAS Visual Analytics Enterprise (VEA).
2. Proven experience supporting enterprise infrastructure within complex physical, virtual, cloud or hybrid environments.
3. Strong experience in infrastructure operations, including system administration, maintenance, patching and operational support.
4. Demonstrated capability in availability management, including disaster recovery planning, testing and service continuity activities.
5. Experience monitoring infrastructure capacity and performance, identifying issues and implementing capacity improvements.
6. Proven ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and system issues using structured problem management practices.
7. Experience developing scripts or automation to support infrastructure provisioning, deployment or operational activities.
8. Demonstrated experience contributing to systems design, infrastructure implementation,



installation and decommissioning projects.
9. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
10. A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline is highly desirable.
