We are seeking experienced Senior SAS Administrators / Infrastructure Engineers for an anticipated long-term engagement supporting enterprise data analytics platforms within a major Australian Government environment.

The successful consultants will provide technical administration and operational support across enterprise SAS infrastructure, including SAS Viya and related SAS platforms. This opportunity would suit senior infrastructure professionals with strong hands-on SAS administration experience, production support capability and experience operating within complex, security-conscious environments.

This opportunity is subject to our successful appointment under the relevant government procurement process.

Key responsibilities

You will:

- Administer and support enterprise SAS infrastructure, including SAS Viya.

- Diagnose platform issues and contribute to major incident resolution.

- Plan, test and implement security, regulatory and platform patching.

- Monitor platform availability, performance and capacity.

- Develop, maintain and test disaster-recovery plans.

- Automate infrastructure administration, testing and deployment activities.

- Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative improvements.

- Contribute to complex systems design and technical risk assessments.

- Lead or support platform installation, upgrade, migration and decommissioning activities.

- Prepare and review technical documentation, operating procedures and support material.

Essential requirements

Applicants must have:

- A current Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance and the ability to maintain it throughout the engagement.

- Substantial experience administering SAS Viya or comparable enterprise SAS environments.

- Senior-level experience supporting business-critical infrastructure platforms.





- Demonstrated experience with availability management and disaster recovery.

- Experience with infrastructure capacity, performance monitoring and planning.

- Strong incident, problem and root-cause management capability.

- Experience creating scripts or automation for infrastructure administration.

- Experience contributing to complex systems design, installation, upgrade or decommissioning activities.

- Solid technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

- Availability to work from a nominated government office when required.

A degree in software engineering, computer science or a related discipline is highly regarded.

Location and working arrangements

Candidates must be based in ACT, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia or Tasmania.

Hybrid working arrangements may be available on a case-by-case basis. Candidates must live within reasonable travelling distance of a relevant office and be able to attend at short notice for operational or emergency requirements.

This is not a fully remote engagement.

Contract details

- Initial term: 12 months.

- Potential extension subject to client requirements.

- Anticipated commencement: 1 September 2026.

- Engagement type: hourly-rate contract.

- Rate: negotiable according to experience and demonstrated capability.
