Position Overview

The Strategic Development Coordinator will lead the case management and coordination of land divisions and strategic development proposals, from pre-lodgement through to final delivery. The role is responsible for facilitating efficient assessment processes, managing stakeholder engagement, and ensuring development outcomes align with Council's strategic planning objectives.

The position also drives continuous improvement across the development assessment function, including enhancing internal and external referral processes, policies, and procedures.



A key aspect of the role is acting as the interface between Council’s planning and development assessment functions and its infrastructure, engineering, and environmental services teams, ensuring that development proposals achieve positive, integrated, and sustainable planning and infrastructure outcomes for the community.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to Manager Development and Regulation, responsibilities of this role include:

- Influence planning outcomes in pre-lodgement and lodgement phases to ensure the delivery of coordinated, planned and cohesive outcomes between developments.

- Negotiate with developers to facilitate the provision of strategic infrastructure in accordance with Council identified priorities.

- Provide direction and advice to the planning and engineering teams on essential infrastructure provision and coordination requirements for land division and key housing and employment project applications.

- Manage any deed/agreement finalisation, implementation and operational processes for the growth areas including negotiation with external parties.

- Provide advice to stakeholders at all stages of the development and land division process.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering, or an equivalent skilled qualification in a related field.

- Extensive knowledge and experience in the planning and delivery of land divisions and greenfield land development projects.

- Demonstrated experience in developing relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, surveyors, engineers, consultants, State Government agencies and the community.

- Demonstrated experience in project management.

- Experience in developing and improving systems and processes.

The position is offered as a full time, fixed term 3-year contract at General Officer Level 8 in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual salary range of $135,174.52 to $144,275.56 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience.
