About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Casual Disability Support Workers to join our team in Townsville, QLD. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. Working on a casual basis, you will provide direct support and care to service users in various settings, including their homes, community facilities and day programs. This role is integral to our mission of enabling individuals with disabilities to participate fully in their communities and achieve their personal goals.

Key responsibilities

- Provide personalised support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in line with their care plans and individual goals

- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation and grooming, as required

- Support service users to participate in community activities, recreational outings and social engagement opportunities

- Maintain accurate and timely records of support provided and any concerns or observations

- Communicate effectively with service users, families, colleagues and management regarding support needs and progress

- Uphold safeguarding procedures and report any concerns relating to the welfare or safety of service users

- Maintain a clean, safe and respectful environment for service users

- Support service users to develop independence and life skills where appropriate

- Respond to requests and adapt support approaches to meet individual preferences and needs





- Collaborate with the wider support team to ensure consistent, high-quality care delivery

What we're looking for

- Genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and commitment to person-centred care

- Relevant disability support experience, or willingness to undertake training and develop expertise

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships

- Patience, empathy and a non-judgmental approach to supporting diverse individuals

- Physical capability to assist with mobility and personal care tasks, as required

- Reliability and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing schedules and support needs

- Current Working With Children Check (or equivalent) and a valid police check

- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Sound understanding of disability support principles and person-centred practice

- A valid driver's licence is desirable, as some roles may require travel within Townsville
