Assistance Dogs Australia (ADA) is a national charity that breeds, trains and places assistance dogs to support people with physical disabilities, autism and PTSD. We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll & Finance Assistant to join our Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our payroll and financial operations run accurately and efficiently, helping to support the essential work we do every day.

You're a detail-oriented and organised professional who takes pride in delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll and financial administration. You enjoy working with numbers and understand the importance of confidentiality and precision when managing payroll and financial data.

Whether you're processing payroll, reconciling accounts or responding to employee enquiries, you're committed to delivering exceptional service and continuously improving the way work gets done.
How You'll Help Power Our Purpose
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll with accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail.
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and statutory obligations, including superannuation, PAYG, GST and BAS.
- Experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and general finance administration.
- Proficiency using payroll and accounting systems, with experience in MYOB and Employment Hero highly regarded.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, with confidence working with financial data and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, customer-focused approach to supporting employees, suppliers and stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
- A genuine passion for working in a purpose-driven organisation and contributing to a mission that changes lives.
What you’ll bring to the pack
- 2–4 years experience in payroll processing, finance or accounts roles.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or Payroll (Cert IV, Diploma, or proven experience)
- Hands-on experience across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and general financial administration.
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory obligations, including BAS, GST, PAYG and superannuation.
- Experience using accounting and payroll systems, with MYOB and Employment Hero highly regarded.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or regulated environment will be highly regarded.
- May already have or happy to provide a NDIS Workers Screen Check and Working with Children Check.
- You must hold FULL working rights in Australia.
- The role is also eligible for 'not for profit' salary packaging - up to $15,900 a year.
