Role Overview

Are you passionate about walking alongside Aboriginal men, supporting their strengths, and creating meaningful change? We are seeking a dedicated Koori Men's Diversion Case Worker to deliver culturally safe, intensive case management to Aboriginal men in Mildura on a permanent full time basis.

This is an Aboriginal Male Identified Position. It focuses on a holistic, trauma-informed approach to divert participants from further contact with the criminal justice system. In this position, you will manage a small, high-impact caseload of 6–8 men, ensuring they receive the deep, coordinated support they need to thrive.

This position is a designated Aboriginal Identified Role.



The filling of this position is intended to constitute a Special Measure under Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

This position is also a Gender-Specific Role open to male applicants only. This is a lawful Genuine Occupational Requirement under Section 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive, holistic case management to a caseload of 6–8 Aboriginal men

• Deliver and manage case plans, undertake assessments and referrals.

• Coordinate the delivery of cultural and gender appropriate treatment and support services for Aboriginal male participants and advocating on their behalf.

• Working collaboratively with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal service providers and government departments to establish network and referral pathways.

• Contribute to improved justice outcomes by liaising with justice agencies and supporting Aboriginal participants in contact with the criminal justice system.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and liaising with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations to achieve project objectives and goals.

• Effective written and oral communication skills including the ability to create and revise case plans, reports and other documents.

• Demonstrated ability to fulfill program requirements regarding case notes, reporting, and other data records including the use and maintenance of records on relevant IT systems.

• Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services

• Relevant qualification in community services, social work, criminal justice.
