The organisation

Based in Toowoomba with offices in Ipswich, Goondiwindi, Roma, Hervey Bay, and Gympie, Tasc Community Legal Centre provides a broad range of services including legal advice and advocacy to clients across the Greater Southern Queensland region. Key to our ongoing success are social workers who are knowledgeable, patient and tenacious, and a culture that is engaging, supportive and driven to provide the best possible experience and outcomes for clients in a values-based framework.

The position

An opportunity exists for a Social Worker to join our team. This role is tasked with making a meaningful impact on client outcomes by working in partnership with solicitors and advocates. Our social workers provide crisis intervention, general counselling, casework, and referrals utilising a holistic approach. They also deliver educational presentations to stakeholders in our community, participate in law reform projects, do regional outreach, and develop mentoring and supervision skills by working with students and volunteers. At Tasc, your priority areas of focus will be elder abuse and mental health, though you will also work across other practice areas as needed.

Reporting to the Social Work Practice Manager, you will be rewarded with the freedom to structure your practice to best apply your skills and knowledge to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients within identified operational requirements. You can explore other practice areas and develop projects and programs to raise awareness of the services we offer in our communities.

The person

The ability to consider your work through the lens of client impact is essential. You will need to be eligible for a Positive Notice for Working with Children, and Disability Services (Blue and Yellow cards).

The qualities we seek are innovation, adaptability, and compassion in an individual who takes a cooperative approach to problem solving and leads by example. A positive attitude, the ability to value and respect each person for their contributions to the team, professionalism, resilience and a genuine desire to achieve better outcomes for clients facing adversity are highly desirable. The ability to work in a trauma-informed practice framework is essential.

You will be based either in Ipswich or Toowoomba, with travel to the other offices for training and service coverage as required, and some regional overnight travel. The position is offered on a full-time basis, however part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate

Salary range is between L4+ and L5+ of the SCHADS Award, depending on experience.

We offer above Award conditions including additional paid leave over Christmas, and salary packaging to increase your take-home pay. We cover the cost of your professional membership and provide other wellbeing initiatives to support you at work.
