Our Traffic Control division continues to grow, and we are looking for an experienced Traffic Control Planner to join our team. About the Role
As our Traffic Control Planner, you will be responsible for preparing accurate, practical and compliant Traffic Management Plans, Traffic Guidance Schemes and supporting documentation for a broad range of civil, construction and infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with clients, project teams, our Traffic Control Operations Manager and field crews to understand each project’s requirements and develop traffic management solutions that can be safely and effectively implemented on site.
The role will also involve coordinating permit and road occupancy applications, consulting with relevant authorities and stakeholders, and ensuring plans are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing Traffic Management Plans, Traffic Guidance Schemes and associated traffic management documentation.
- Preparing plans in accordance with current legislation, Transport for NSW requirements, relevant Australian Standards, codes of practice and company procedures.
- Reviewing project scopes, construction methodologies, site conditions and staging requirements.
- Conducting site inspections and gathering the information required to prepare accurate and practical plans.
- Identifying traffic-related risks and hazards and documenting the required controls.
- Developing solutions that safely manage vehicles, workers, pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
- Liaising with clients, project managers, site supervisors, traffic control crews, councils, Transport for NSW, emergency services, bus operators and other stakeholders.
- Preparing and managing council permits, Road Occupancy Licence applications and other required approvals.
- Responding to client feedback and revising plans as project conditions or staging requirements change.
- Communicating plan requirements clearly to the operational team before works commence.
- Supporting field teams with the implementation, inspection and review of traffic management arrangements.
- Managing multiple planning requests and ensuring plans are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintaining organised and accurate records of plans, approvals, revisions and client correspondence.
- Contributing to the continued improvement of our traffic management planning processes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A current NSW Traffic Management Designer or Prepare Work Zone Traffic Management Plan qualification.
- Demonstrated experience preparing Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes.
- Experience using RapidPlan or similar traffic management planning software.
- A strong understanding of Transport for NSW Traffic Control at Work Sites requirements.
- Knowledge of AS 1742.3 and other relevant traffic management standards, legislation and codes of practice.
- Experience preparing applications and documentation for councils,
Transport for NSW and other road authorities.
- A current Australian driver licence.
- A current White Card.
- Solid risk assessment and hazard identification skills.
- The ability to translate construction staging and site requirements into safe, practical traffic management solutions.
- Strong written communication and document preparation skills.
- Confidence communicating with clients, authorities, project teams and operational personnel.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a strong commitment to safety.
- The ability to travel to project sites when required.
- Previous experience working within traffic control, civil construction, road maintenance or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
