About the Business

Sinjeon K-Street Food Hawthorn is an established Korean restaurant located in Hawthorn, Victoria. We prepare and serve a range of made-to-order Korean dishes, including tteokbokki, rice dishes, noodle dishes, fried chicken, kimbap and other Korean specialities.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Cook to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing, seasoning and cooking a range of Korean dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.

- Preparing ingredients, sauces, marinades, stocks and accompaniments from raw ingredients.

- Operating cooking equipment, including stoves, fryers, grills and other commercial kitchen equipment.

- Monitoring cooking times, temperatures, portion sizes and presentation standards.

- Inspecting ingredients and finished dishes to ensure freshness, quality and consistency.

- Preparing food for daily restaurant service while maintaining appropriate stock rotation.

- Coordinating food preparation and cooking during busy service periods.

- Assisting with food ordering, stock control and minimising food wastage.

- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.

- Complying with food safety, workplace health and safety and sanitation requirements.





- Assisting with the training and supervision of junior kitchen employees where required.

- Working collaboratively with other kitchen and front-of-house employees.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent relevant industry experience.

- A minimum of two years’ relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.

- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.

- Experience preparing Korean or Asian cuisine is highly regarded.

- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.

- Ability to maintain consistent food quality during high-volume service.

- Strong time-management, communication and teamwork skills.

- Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as reasonably required.
