Senior Financial Accountant -
NSW State Government

Sydney CBD, Hybrid
Rate:
$750 per day + super
Contract End:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join a NSW Government Department on a contract basis through to November. This role will play a key part in delivering high-quality financial reporting, technical accounting advice, and system-driven improvements across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to year-end financial statements and statutory reporting
Provide strong technical accounting advice, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and NSW Treasury policies
Support and deliver audit activities, acting as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors
Work across SAP and TM1, including reporting, analysis, and system enhancements
Contribute to system implementations, upgrades, and finance transformation initiatives
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance controls, efficiency,



and data integrity
Engage effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management
Essentials Skills & Experience:
CPA or CA qualified
Proven experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or similar role
Robust background in audit and financial reporting
Hands-on experience with SAP and TM1
Demonstrated experience with system implementations and finance process improvement
High-level technical accounting capability within a complex or regulated environment
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders
