Step Into Leadership | Associate Nurse Unit Manager, Outpatient Services
Flinders Medical Centre is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to take on an Associate Nurse Unit Manager role within Outpatient Support Services on a full‑time contract through to October 2027. You'll provide hands‑on clinical leadership across a busy outpatient environment, supporting your team to deliver safe, high‑quality care to a diverse patient population.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in the day‑to‑day clinical and operational leadership of Outpatient Support Services, acting as a key resource for staff, patients, and the broader multidisciplinary team.
Duties for the role will include:
- Assists the OSS Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent to provide timely, useful and relevant information to clinicians and managers, to assist quality clinical and management decisions and quality outcomes,
- Assist with data extraction and analysis to assist with continuous quality improvement activities,
- Assists and supports the OSS Nurse Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical and education activities,
- Plan and coordinate services including those from other disciplines,
- Participate in clinical teaching, overseeing learning experience, and goal setting for students, new staff and staff with less experience,
- Assist the OSS Nurse Unit Manager and the OSS Nurse Manager to maintain a learning culture by being a resource person, encouraging reflection and professional development,
and assisting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning
Abou t you:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
- Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
- Registered Nurse with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience,
- Demonstrated competence in clinical practice in accordance with relevant standards,
- Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses
