The Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) is Australia's independent national research institute dedicated to housing, homelessness, cities and related urban issues. Working in partnership with Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, universities and the broader housing sector, AHURI delivers high-quality research that informs policy and contributes to better housing and urban outcomes across Australia.

With housing affordability, supply, homelessness and urban development among Australia's most significant public policy challenges, AHURI is seeking to appoint an outstanding leader as its next Managing Director.

Reporting to the Board, the Managing Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Institute, shaping the national research agenda and ensuring AHURI continues to deliver independent, rigorous and policy-relevant research. The role leads the organisation's strategy, people, financial performance,



governance and operations while maintaining AHURI's reputation as one of Australia's most respected and influential public policy research organisations.

Working closely with government, university research partners and other stakeholders, the Managing Director will identify emerging research priorities, strengthen strategic partnerships and maximise the impact of AHURI's research. As the Institute's principal public representative, the role provides expert advice to governments, contributes to national policy discussions and represents AHURI through the media, conferences and other public forums.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished executive with experience working or leading within a research, public policy, government, university or other mission-driven organisation. They will possess outstanding strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement skills together with the ability to build trusted relationships across government, academia, industry and the community. Robust communication skills, commercial acumen, sound governance experience and a commitment to evidence-informed public policy will be essential.
