About this opportunity

As the Coordinator Waste Services, you will be required to deliver the strategic direction of waste services and ensure that waste operations and resource recovery are compliant and meet legislative and Council requirements.
The position is based in Beaudesert, but you may be required to work from any of Council’s offices (Boonah and Tamborine Mountain) or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

Additionally, you’ll also …

- Develop, implement, manage and review the implementation of Council’s waste management strategies and guidelines.
- Oversee the tendering, monitoring and administration of all solid waste related contracts.
- Develop and lead a range of educational and promotional sustainability initiatives such as recycling and waste minimisation and environmental wellbeing.
- Manage,



motivate and lead the Waste Services team ensuring the effective delivery of business as usual processes and procedures including the ongoing delivery of cost effective domestic and commercial waste and recycling services.
- Develop, analyse and present waste services data and statistics to support annual reporting, service planning, performance monitoring and informed decision-making including report writing.
- Develop, oversee and deliver project work of significant scope on time and within budget.

About you…

- Tertiary Qualifications in Applied Science (Environmental Health), Waste Management, Environmental Management or other relevant area and/or demonstratable extensive experience gained through previous appointments in Waste Management or relevant field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of waste management practices and principles, preferably within a local government setting. An understanding of local government procurement processes is desirable.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with staff, community members, contractors, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively manage a team budget.
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or the ability to acquire.
