Shift Leader – Own It. Lead It. Be Part of It.
Cambridge Full Time Production & Operations
Ready to Own It and step into a role where leadership isn’t done from behind a desk? At Skretting, we’re looking for a Shift Leader who thrives in the action — someone who can lead from the front, support their team, and keep production running safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
This is a role with real influence. Real responsibility. Real impact.
Why Own It with Us?
Because here, leadership is balanced and purposeful.
On your continuous shift roster of 2 days, 2 nights and 4 off, you’ll spend 50% of your time leading, coordinating, planning, and developing your team, and 50% working alongside them — building trust, capability, and a culture of safety and performance.
You won’t just supervise the shift.
You’ll shape it.
What You’ll Own
Leadership & Coordination (50%)
- Lead and coordinate shift activities to meet production, safety, quality, and cost targets.
- Plan labour, manage leave, and align resources to daily production priorities.
- Run structured pre-starts, shift meetings, and handovers that keep everyone aligned.
- Maintain accurate records, complete shift reports, and monitor KPIs.
- Coach, support, and develop employees — building capability and future leaders.
- Communicate clearly across shifts, maintenance, logistics, and management.
- Lead problem-solving, continuous improvement,
and incident response.
- Fulfil the role of Chief Warden during emergencies.
Active Crew Member (50%)
- Work alongside the team to complete production tasks and maintain workflow.
- Operate equipment, troubleshoot issues, support changeovers, and assist during peak periods.
- Maintain Level 5 operational competency and uphold safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and support while on the floor.
- Model the behaviours, teamwork, and accountability expected of the crew.
What You Bring
- Experience in production, operations, or manufacturing leadership.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead people while staying hands-on and grounded in operations.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Confidence supervising up to 30 employees in a quick-paced environment.
Why This Role Matters
As a Shift Leader, you directly influence the efficiency, safety, and success of the site. You’ll be the person your team looks to for direction, support, and clarity — and the person who ensures every shift runs like a well‑oiled machine.
This is your chance to Own It:
Own the shift.
Own the culture.
Own your leadership journey.
