Role Overview Wagga Wagga Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner to join our growing medical team on a full-time basis. This role involves providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients across all age groups through clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education, and preventative care. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with patients and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered medical services while maintaining accurate medical documentation and complying with all professional and regulatory standards.
This position aligns with ANZSCO 253111 – General Practitioner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertaking comprehensive patient consultations,
including clinical examinations and medical history assessments, to diagnose illnesses and health conditions
- Requesting and analysing diagnostic tests such as pathology, imaging, and other investigations to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Delivering primary healthcare services, including the prescription and administration of appropriate medications, treatments, and preventative care measures
- Monitoring and evaluating patients’ progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal health outcomes
- Providing guidance to patients on lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical activity, and preventative health practices to support overall wellbeing
- Referring patients to medical specialists and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
- Complying with statutory reporting requirements, including the notification of births, deaths, and communicable diseases to relevant authorities
- Facilitating hospital admissions and coordinating patient care with hospital and allied health services where required
Skills and Experience
- Current AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner (Provisional Registration).
- Eligibility for supervised practice in accordance with AHPRA requirements
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and competence in general practice settings
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care
