This is a national role that assists the Commercial Director in undertaking contractual risk management reviews for our Clients subsidiaries across Electrical, Data, Heating/Ventilation/Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Security, to minimize our clients commercial risks.
THE COMPANY
Our Client is a leading Commercial Construction company with projects within the commercial, hospitality, education, industrial & health sectors across Australia. Due to unprecedented growth in NSW, they are currently seeking a Contracts officer to join their team.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role will require you to:
- Review all major project contract documents to identify areas of legal and commercial concern and identify departures from our clients Contract Risk Profile
- Work with internal Estimators, Project Managers, Construction Managers, General Managers, and Directors to negotiate and modify problematic clauses in project contractual documents to close out with the Client
- Review and resolve Supplier’s and Subcontractor’s proposed departures from Standard Terms & Conditions
- Review completed documents for final execution by the Commercial Director or other relevant Director as applicable
- Manage the secure-keeping of fully executed Contracts by registering them in the Document Register and filing them in the Secure Storage located at the Head Office
- Assist the Project Teams, General Managers, and Directors with any commercial-related queries
- Provide Notice Templates and ad-hoc client-submission documents required from time to time
- Assist with Project contractual claims and notices
- Senior candidates will have the opportunity to mentor and support junior team members

QUALS AND EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate or tertiary qualifications in commercial, construction, or engineering disciplines preferred.
- Previous experience working in the construction industry is advantageous.
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.
- High level attention to detail and to be able to follow processes.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office computer skills
