We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a well-established team working within the commercial marine industry . This is an excellent opportunity to work on the maintenance, overhaul and installation of mechanical systems aboard commercial vessels.
Candidates with previous commercial marine experience are highly regarded; however, trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters from other heavy industrial sectors are encouraged to apply.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for a range of mechanical maintenance and installation tasks, including:
- Removal, overhaul, repair and installation of propulsion systems, pumps, engines, shafts and associated mechanical equipment.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Precision fitting, alignment and assembly of mechanical components.
- Working safely both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety across all tasks.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
- Previous commercial marine experience (preferred, 12-18 months minimum).
- Strong mechanical fitting and assembly experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Hydraulic experience (highly regarded).
- Welding experience or capability (advantageous).
- A solid commitment to workplace health and safety.
- The ability to work autonomously with excellent attention to detail.
