Position

This is a permanent full‑time position commencing Term 3, 2026.

Yanchep Secondary College (SC) provides young people in the Yanchep area with a high quality, comprehensive education. Yanchep SC opened in 2018 in a brand‑new purpose‑built school. We offer a broad, high‑level curriculum encompassing academic programmes and vocational courses to provide students with opportunities to pursue learning interests that inspire and challenge them. Our school has specialist teachers, a challenging curriculum that inspires excellence, and many options and pathways for students to succeed, including university, further training, or employment. The college is part of the Metropolitan Teaching Program for hard‑to‑staff schools. Teaching staff receive an additional allowance on top of their normal conditions.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a Career Practitioner, a specialist teacher who would support the career development of students. This is an exciting chance for teachers with an interest in student career pathways. The Career Practitioner would ideally work with the school leadership team and embed career development and industry‑linked activities into curricular and co‑curricular programmes.

The Career Practitioner should ideally be an innovator and display the ability to work collaboratively across the school. The successful applicant should implement programmes and provide resources to embed career development across learning areas. Teachers in this specialist role will ideally be competent in the interpretation and analysis of system and school‑based data.

We are seeking a teacher that enjoys working with students to help them imagine and connect with their future career aspirations.

Confidence to make decisions and enact necessary curriculum reform will be essential attributes for the role. The desired applicant should ideally have a high level of knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of tertiary entrance contexts, local employers, community agencies and training providers desirable. The successful applicant ideally would also have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, and local industry.

Professional Benefits

Working for the Department of Education you will enjoy a range of benefits including competitive salaries, flexible working arrangements, training and career development opportunities and attractive leave provisions.
