We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role
Reporting to the Strategic Transport Coordinator, we are seeking a Senior Strategic Transport Planner who can bring their skills and experience to implement Moving Brimbank – Our Integrated Transport Strategy by:
- Prepare and review transport network plan(s) for the municipality as a whole as well as specific neighbourhoods to guide Council's planning, advocacy and prioritisation of infrastructure development for walking, cycling, public transport and driving.
- Prepare and collaborate on Council's transport advocacy around better Active Transport, Public Transport (Better Buses, Melton Line Electrification), and Driving (various road projects),
around upcoming State and Federal elections.
- Lead the preparation of a Transit Access Plan, which will focus on how Brimbank is going to get our residents to our Railway Station in the future. Which improvements for walking, cycling, bus connections and car parking can Brimbank make or advocate for?
- Provide strategic transport advice, in a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders, on a wide range of transport planning applications, Structure Plans, Development Plans, policies and strategies.
To be considered you
- Are a person who walks, rides, uses public transport as well as drives a car and as such have lived experience of all different transport modes and a deep understanding of the challenges that come with every mode.
- Either worked in local government before or worked closely with a local government and as such have a knowledge of the role local government in transport planning.
- Have an understanding with the transport context and specific challenges in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.
- Preferably have a tertiary qualification in (transport) planning. Qualifications in urban planning or related fields will be considered.
