About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

- Exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools (e.g. MagicDraw, Cameo, Rhapsody or similar)
- Experience working on complex systems, ideally within Defence or high-technology environments
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
- NV1 security clearance and ability to handle Export Controlled information
Desirable
- Experience working within AIR6500 or similar large Defence programs
- Exposure to system-of-systems integration and digital engineering environments
- Knowledge of Defence capability domains (C2, ISR, communications, etc.)
Why join us
- Be part of one of Australia’s most advanced and strategically significant Defence programs
- Work across cutting-edge, integrated systems spanning multiple domains
- Collaborate with industry-leading engineers and Defence partners
- Strong focus on career development, mentoring and technical growth
