Canva is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer in Melbourne to lead Authorization at scale within the User Platform. You will own design patterns for the centralised, SpiceDB-backed authorization system and drive adoption across Security, API Platform, and product engineering.

This role combines deep technical leadership with hands-on work at Canva’s scale. Ideal candidates bring experience solving hard IAM problems, building high-availability services, and mentoring teams.
