An Australian industrial technology company is expanding its engineering team and is now hiring a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead hardware design review and validation for a critical hardware product line.
You'll sit at the centre of a product where reliability isn't optional: units are deployed in remote, hard-to-access field locations and must operate continuously with essentially no room for failure. Acting as the technical gatekeeper for the hardware, you'll review schematics, PCB layouts, and full-board designs, lead architecture and risk reviews, and own verification, validation, and reliability test plans before any revision goes to manufacturing.
This role would suit a senior hardware engineer who enjoys systems level ownership and rigorous design scrutiny, working closely with firmware, FPGA, and product teams to ensure every device that ships can survive years of unattended field operation.
This is a full time role based in Melbourne. For interstate candidates, relocation is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and critically assess schematics, PCB layouts, and mixed-signal/power circuit designs
- Lead design reviews, architecture reviews, and risk assessments ahead of manufacturing releases
- Own verification, validation, and reliability test plans across the hardware lifecycle
- Assess switching power supply, regulator,
and power integrity designs for durability
- Review digital and mixed-signal circuitry, PCB layout quality, and EMC/DFM compliance
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and root-cause investigation of field failures
- Act as the technical liaison between hardware development and internal firmware, FPGA, and product teams
Requirements:
- Senior level experience in embedded hardware engineering, with exposure to full product development lifecycles from concept through to field deployment
- Robust analog and digital circuit design fluency, including switching power supplies and power integrity
- Solid understanding of PCB design, EMC, and DFM principles
- Comfortable with lab work: board bring-up, debugging, and validation testing
- Experience investigating and resolving field failures in deployed hardware
- Ability to critically review and stress-test hardware designs, not just originate your own
Desirable but not mandatory:
- Experience reviewing or auditing designs developed by third-party or contract engineering teams
- Exposure to ruggedised, safety-critical, or environmentally demanding electronics
- Familiarity with compliance and certification processes for industrial hardware
- Understanding of firmware/FPGA interfaces from a hardware perspective
