Job Description

Maddington Auto Care Pty Ltd Maddington Auto Care Pty Ltd T/as City Discount Tyres Maddington is seeking a skilled and experienced Motor Mechanic to join its team on a full-time basis at its Maddington workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of passenger and light commercial vehicles to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop standards.

Task & responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, components and vehicle systems using diagnostic equipment and manual testing procedures
- Inspect, dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension systems, brakes and other vehicle components to identify faults
- Repair or replace worn, defective or damaged mechanical parts, including brake components, bearings, belts, gaskets, seals and related components
- Reassemble engines and mechanical components after repair and conduct testing to ensure proper operation
- Perform scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, tune-ups, lubrication, filter replacements and tyre rotations
- Carry out safety and roadworthiness-related checks where required
- Use diagnostic instruments, hand tools,



power tools and workshop equipment to complete repairs and maintenance work
- Conduct test drives after repairs to confirm vehicle performance and mechanical reliability
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, services and repairs, including customer reports and job sheets
- Communicate repair requirements, procedures, estimated costs and timeframes to customers when required
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and help maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
- Perform physical workshop tasks, including lifting, bending and handling vehicle parts and equipment

Qualification & experience

- At least two years of relevant experience in a commercial automotive workshop
- Experience working on a range of passenger and light commercial vehicles, including Asian, European and other vehicle brands
- Solid diagnostic, repair and maintenance skills
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely and effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to high-quality workmanship and workplace safety
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks in an automotive workshop environment
- Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing if required
