Operational Capability & Training Coordinator

Wespine Industries Pty Ltd is the leading plantation softwood sawmilling company with its operations based just outside Bunbury in Dardanup. The company is a market leader in the provision of softwood timber to the national building and packaging industries with a strong culture of continuous improvement and investment into its manufacturing operation and management support systems.

We are seeking an Operational Capability & Training Coordinator to join our People & Safety Team. Reporting to the Workplace Trainer & Assessor, you will support the coordination, delivery and continuous improvement of Wespine's operational training and competency framework, working closely with operational leaders, supervisors and external training providers to build workforce capability, maintain compliance and support safe, high-performing operations.

This is offered on a full-time basis working 40 hours per week. Candidates must be able to work occasional nightshift to support operational training needs.

About the Role

As the Operational Capability & Training Coordinator, you will support, deliver, and evaluate structured training and competency-based assessments and programs at Wespine.

Responsibilities

- Coordinating, delivering and evaluating operational training, competency assessments and onboarding programs across the business.
- Maintaining and continuously improving Wespine's Training and Competency Framework to support workforce capability and operational excellence.
- Monitoring and reporting on compliance with training, High Risk Work Licences and competency requirements.
- Coordinating internal and external training providers to meet organisational and operational training requirements.




- Contributing to incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives relating to training, competency and workforce capability.
- Promoting a strong safety culture by ensuring all training and competency activities align with legislative requirements, company standards and Wespine's values.

Qualifications

- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or be actively working towards obtaining it).
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a training, learning and development role.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and maintaining structured training and competency systems.
- A sound understanding of the Western Australian Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and WHS Regulations (General) 2022.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees, contractors and leaders across all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Solid analytical skills with experience monitoring compliance, maintaining accurate training records and preparing reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using training databases and business systems.
- Right to work in Australia.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and the confidence to promote safe work practices and positive change.
- Emergency Management qualifications or training.
- High Risk Work Licences.
- Experience using the MYOSH Training Database.
