Drill Intelligence is the drilling optimisation arm of WSG, leading the way in deploying innovative technology that enhances drilling performance. We value leadership, integrity and teamwork, and we’re looking for an experienced General Manager to contribute to our ongoing success.

The Opportunity

Drill Intelligence has some exciting projects on the horizon. This is your chance to work with cutting‑edge drilling optimisation technology, bringing advanced solutions to mining and geotechnical projects across Australia. You will be responsible for overseeing operations, service quality, and continuous improvement across the division. This role supports the Managing Director in driving company initiatives, ensuring operational excellence and contributing to the strategic growth of the business. The General Manager plays a key role in the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

Provide leadership in the division to ensure operational efficiency and excellence.

Uphold and promote the company’s vision, values and culture.

Drive the development and implementation of operating systems across the team.

Mentor and upskill supervisors to strengthen leadership capabilities.

Contribute to strategic planning and decision‑making.

Represent the business in key business engagements, client meetings and industry events.

Management

Oversee all aspects of Drill Intelligence operations across regions, including overseas projects when required.

Ensure appropriate resource allocation, including personnel and equipment.

Monitor service delivery to maintain high operational standards and client satisfaction.





Oversee the coordination of staffing, logistics and field operations.

Manage operational budgets and financial performance of the division.

Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Lead and manage key projects for business improvement and efficiency.

Business Development

Act as the primary client liaison, maintaining strong relationships and trust with key stakeholders.

Drive initiatives to improve client satisfaction and service quality.

Participate in contract negotiations, trade shows, and industry networking events.

Support the Managing Director in identifying new business opportunities and growth strategies.

Safety

Champion a solid safety culture and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Ensure employees are trained and competent in safety policies and procedures.

Promote continuous improvement initiatives in health, safety and operational risk management.

Lead by example in adhering to PPE and all safety protocols.

Reporting

Provide structured updates and reports to the Managing Director, including:

Daily:

Operational updates detailing any key challenges, staffing requirements and equipment allocations.

Immediate concerns that need attention or resolution.

Operations Meeting with department heads to review project progress, operational issues and resource management.





Monthly:

Comprehensive operational summary reports, including financial performance, client feedback and progress on key operational goal

Business performance reviews, evaluating the progress of strategic business development initiatives, operational improvements and safety metrics.

A review of operational efficiency gains and any significant business issues.

Annually:

Division performance review, including an evaluation of business improvement initiatives, budgeting and capital expenditure planning.

Annual assessment of divisional goals and alignment with the company’s long‑term vision

Selection Criteria

Strong leadership and management experience across multiple departments.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in drilling operations, including multidirectional drilling, mining or similar operations preferred

Minimum 5 years in a management position

Mechanical or engineering qualifications preferred

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strategic thinker with a track record of business development and operational improvement

High level of autonomy and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and business management software
