We are seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistant for permanent and fixed term, full time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As a Home Economics Assistant, you will work as part of a collaborative team to support teachers in the delivery of textiles and food classes. You will assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, preparing materials and resources for class use, undertaking regular cleaning activities as directed, and assisting the teacher with the care and supervision of students. You would also be responsible for ensuring the clean and safe storage of equipment and materials following classes and activities. You may be required to work with students either individually or in small groups in out‑of‑class activities and on school excursions.

In addition, you will assist with food and textile ordering, stocktaking,



and monitoring of stock levels to ensure resources are readily available to support teaching and learning. You should have the ability to maintain a well‑resourced, organised and safe learning environment, with the health and safety of students as a high priority. You should contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Ideal applicants would be energetic, flexible, organised and reliable. You should have a proactive and positive approach to your role and be able to work well autonomously and as part of a team. The ability to prioritise tasks is highly desirable in this role.
