We're growing and looking for a Melbourne-based Palo Alto specialist to join our team and support secure Defence-aligned environments. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who knows their way around complex firewall infrastructure, understands the importance of disciplined change, and can keep critical systems secure, stable and fit for purpose.

About the Role

You'll be supporting the administration,



operation and uplift of Palo Alto infrastructure across secure research network environments.

The work will include:

- Administering and supporting Palo Alto firewall infrastructure
- Applying patches and updates in line with formal change management processes
- Supporting fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and incident resolution
- Managing support tickets in accordance with client incident management processes
- Assisting with infrastructure expansion, configuration and design activities
- Supporting testing, system administration, incident and problem management
- Helping ensure the environment remains secure, available and fit for purpose
- Working professionally within a structured Defence and security environment

You'll need to be comfortable operating in a high-accountability setting where process, judgement and documentation matter - but where practical engineering still wins the day.

What You Bring

You don't need to be loud, flashy or full of buzzwords. You do need to be technically strong, calm under pressure, and comfortable taking ownership.

We're looking for someone with:

- Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks technologies
- Experience administering enterprise firewall and security infrastructure
- Solid understanding of network security, access control and secure gateway architectures
- Experience with incident, problem and change management processes
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues methodically




- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Good documentation habits and a professional approach to client environments
- Confidence working in secure, regulated or Defence-related environments
- A delivery mindset - you care about outcomes, not just activity

Experience aligned to SFIA Level 5 network support, network administration or network design capability would be highly regarded.

Eligibility

Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian citizen. A current NV2 security clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates with an existing clearance will be highly regarded.

This role is based in Melbourne's Fishermans Bend precinct , supporting a secure Defence environment. Candidates located in Melbourne or willing to relocate are encouraged to apply.
