Reports To: Product Development Manager Role Overview Designs and develops embedded firmware for water dispensing products across residential and commercial markets. Provides technical support to internal departments and takes the technical lead on projects identified by the Product Development Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Embedded firmware development for new and existing products, including application and bootloader development
- LCD GUI development using third party graphics libraries
- Maintain and improve production line test systems
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through to production
- Produce transparent technical documentation including requirements specs, design docs and test plans
- Comply with all Safety, Health and Environment policies and procedures

Tools & Technologies
- Embedded IDEs: Espressif IDE,
MPLAB X, STM32CubeIDE, VS Code, Arduino IDE, Keil MDK, Segger Embedded Studio
- GUI frameworks: TouchGFX, MGS, LVGL, SquareLine Studio
- Electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes and logic analysers
- Version control: SVN, Bitbucket, GitHub
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
Experience Required
- 3+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware design and development
- Full product lifecycle experience from concept through to production including requirements definition, architecture, implementation, testing and field support
- Low level driver development and communication protocols including UART, SPI and I2C
- Experience using Arduino to rapidly develop and deliver minimum viable products
- Proficiency with 32 bit microcontrollers such as STM32, PIC32 and ESP32
- IoT connectivity including Wi Fi, Bluetooth and cellular
- RTOS development such as FreeRTOS
- Embedded GUI design using LVGL, MGS or TouchGFX
- Firmware for system level and PCBA production test systems
- iOS, Android or Windows software development
