A leading engineering and advisory consultancy is expanding its Australian onshore wind capability. As part of this growth, the business is seeking an experienced Planning & Setting Lead to provide senior leadership across planning approvals, environmental assessment and consenting for a portfolio of major wind energy projects.
The successful candidate must have Australian wind energy experience and a strong understanding of the planning, environmental and regulatory requirements associated with Australian wind farm development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning and environmental workstreams across Australian onshore wind projects.
- Develop approval, consenting and environmental assessment strategies.
- Manage planning applications, Environmental Impact Statements, referrals and supporting technical studies.
- Coordinate specialist assessments across ecology, heritage, noise, visual impact, traffic, social impact and land use.
- Engage with state and Commonwealth regulators, councils, landowners and community stakeholders.
- Identify planning and environmental risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Provide planning and environmental input across site selection, feasibility,
development and due diligence activities.
Skills and Experience
- Australian wind energy experience is essential.
- Demonstrated experience delivering planning approvals or environmental assessments for Australian wind farm projects.
- Strong knowledge of Australian state planning frameworks and environmental legislation.
- Experience working with the EPBC Act and relevant state-based approval processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical studies and external specialists.
- Strong stakeholder management, technical writing and client-facing capability.
- Previous experience within an environmental, planning or engineering consultancy is highly desirable.
