Sydney Composites Pty Ltd is an advanced composite manufacturing company based in Wetherill Park, NSW, specialising in design, repair, and production of high-performance composite components for aerospace, defence, medical and motorsport applications. We work with clients to take parts from concept through engineering and into production, combining technical rigour with practical, manufacturable design. Our team is small, hands-on, and works across complex projects end-to-end — from CAD through tooling, layup, and finished part.

Role Description

This full time, on-site Senior Industrial Designer/Draftsman role is based in Wetherill Park, NSW. You'll lead the design of composite and advanced-manufactured components for technical, performance-driven applications — think structural parts, aerodynamic components, or functional assemblies. You'll work from engineering requirements and performance targets to develop concepts, 3D models, and prototypes, working closely with our manufacturing team to ensure designs are manufacturable in composite materials and meet cost, weight, and performance targets. You'll oversee prototyping and testing, iterate designs based on real-world performance data, and prepare final designs for production.

Qualifications & Experience





- Demonstrated industrial design experience in a technical or engineering-driven sector — automotive, aerospace, motorsport, defence, or similar. A portfolio of functional, performance-oriented parts (not consumer products or POS/retail design).
- Strong working knowledge of composite materials and/or advanced manufacturing processes, and how they constrain and inform design.
- Proficiency in Fusion 360 (essential)
- Hands-on prototyping experience — building, testing, and refining physical parts, not just digital models.
- Ability to work from engineering and performance briefs (loads, tolerances, manufacturability)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field — or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with engineering, production, and clients.
- Experience managing multiple projects and mentoring junior team members.
- CNC experience (manual programming or CAM) highly regarded.
