Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Automotive Fitter (4WD Accessories) role based in Melbourne, VIC. The role involves fitting and installing a variety of 4WD accessories such as bull bars, tow bars, suspension components, roof racks, canopies, roller shutters, lighting, and electrical accessories in accordance with Tradesman's specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include vehicle preparation, accurate measurement and drilling, basic wiring and cable routing, testing and quality checking completed installations, and maintaining a clean and organis

ed workshop. The Automotive Fitter will liaise with customers and team members to clarify job requirements, provide basic product information, and ensure that work is completed on time.



The role also includes following workplace health and safety procedures, using hand and power tools appropriately, and supporting other team members as needed.

Qualifications

- Relevant experience in automotive fitting, mechanical work, or accessory installation, ideally with 4WD vehicles.
- Proficiency using common workshop tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment) with strong attention to safety.
- Basic understanding of automotive electrical systems, including safe wiring practices for lights, dual batteries, and other accessories.
- Ability to read and follow installation instructions, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and practical mindset, with the ability to diagnose and resolve fitting issues on different vehicle types.
- Valuable communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to interact professionally with customers and collaborate with colleagues.
- High level of attention to detail, quality-focused approach, and pride in workmanship.
- Physical capacity to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and working under vehicles in a safe manner.
- Trade qualification in automotive, mechanical, or related field (or equivalent experience) is highly regarded.
- Experience in 4WD accessories, off-road equipment, or similar retail/service environments is an advantage.
