Mechanical Draftsperson – Heavy Vehicle Manufacturing

About the role

Gorski Engineering is seeking a motivated Mechanical Draftsperson to join our Queensland team, based at our Stapylton branch.

This is a full-time, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys creating accurate production drawings and seeing projects progress from concept through to manufacture. Working closely with our Victorian engineering team, customers, sales and production, you will prepare detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation that support the successful production of custom truck bodies and trailers.

You’ll become part of a collaborative engineering team, supporting projects across our growing national business while playing an important role in the continued expansion of our Queensland operations.

What you'll be doing

- Inspect, measure and assess incoming truck chassis and trailers, preparing detailed job sheets, production drawings and manufacturing documentation to support custom truck body and trailer builds.

- Produce accurate AutoCAD drawings, maintain drawing databases, revision control and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring all documentation is workshop-ready.

- Liaise with customers, sales, production and suppliers to confirm build specifications, resolve technical queries and coordinate job-specific laser cutting requirements.

- Ensure all drawings and manufacturing documentation comply with Australian Design Rules (ADRs), company standards and quality requirements.

- Provide drafting and production support while identifying opportunities to improve drawing standards, engineering documentation and manufacturing processes.

What we're looking for





- Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Engineering Drafting, Mechanical Design or a related discipline.

- Experience using AutoCAD is essential; experience with Solid Works will be highly regarded.

- Experience producing manufacturing or fabrication drawings, preferably within the heavy vehicle, transport or manufacturing industries.

- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing documentation.

- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, sales and production teams.

- Knowledge of Australian Design Rules (ADRs) or heavy vehicle manufacturing will be highly regarded.
