Working for the ANDRITZ Hydropower division you will be joining one of the world's leading suppliers of electromechanical equipment and services for hydropower stations in the dynamically growing global renewable energy market.

We are seeking a skilled Plant Manager to play a critical role in assisting in the delivery of Australia's first privately developed pumped storage hydropower project in over 40 years. Working on a landmark renewable energy initiative that will become the third-largest electricity storage facility in the country, this role will support the installation, maintenance, and optimization of electromechanical systems critical to the plant's operation.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Be accountable for the secure and reliable day-to-day operation of the plant so it can operate for its intended purpose (generation and pumping).
- Own the maintenance leadership function: ensure maintenance is planned, prioritised, and executed to protect safety, availability, and asset life.
- Drive condition monitoring and defect identification, ensuring issues are captured early and addressed appropriately to prevent premature deterioration.
- Lead and coordinate scheduled outages to cause minimal interference to plant operation and commercial dispatch availability.
- Act as the site leader to ensure full compliance with WHS and environmental laws and requirements, including maintaining effective site safety systems, processes, and reporting.
- Act as the primary site interface with the Principal's on-site representatives, and coordinate with relevant and defined third parties.
- Ensure operational and maintenance records are maintained in an organised, auditable way.
Qualifications and Licenses:
- A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related technical discipline, including electrical, mechanical, civil, or hydropower / mining engineering.
- Electrical Mechanic Trade Certificate / licence
- Preferably Instrumentation Trade Certificate III
- Certificate IV Hazardous Area Inspection EEHA
- Certificate in Leadership & Supervision (S1, S2, S3)
- CPR, LVR, Working at Heights, Confined Space
- Unrestricted C Class Driver's License
We're seeking someone with:
- Demonstrated experience of power generation systems and industrial environments.
- Availability for project-dependent domestic travel as required: Base location: Cairns, Queensland or Townsville, Queensland.
- Ability to take initiative and drive continuous improvements with minimal supervision.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to analyse and solve problems efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Physical fitness and adaptability to various environmental conditions.
- Flexibility - this role is expected to evolve over time as you drive year 0 to completion.
