Ready to stop just managing vacancies and start building a talent function from the ground up?
Our client is a founder-led civil and mining services group on a genuine growth trajectory, scaling from around 650 people to 1,000 in a relatively short window.
That kind of growth needs a recruitment leader who can keep pace with it, not just keep up with it.
This isn't a caretaker role, and it isn't one for someone who has already "Done it all" and is coasting. It's a real leadership opportunity for someone who is ready for their next step: a strong operator currently working under a senior leader, hungry for the chance to take ownership and make a bigger mark.
The role
You'll lead a team of 3 to 4 across recruitment and administration, with recruitment oversight across the wider group and your main focus on two of its core operating brands (plus support for two others).
You'll report to the MD initially, and work closely with them day to day, so you'll need genuine influence and a thick skin, someone who can take direct feedback without taking it personally.
Based in Subiaco, a five minute walk from the train, with regular travel required to build real relationships on the ground in the Goldfields.
What we're looking for
- Strong hands-on talent sourcing capability and a genuine passion for finding people in a tight market
- Modern recruitment thinking: comfortable with new sourcing technology, talent communities and non-traditional attraction strategies
- A builder, not just a manager: someone who can grow a proactive talent function rather than simply process vacancies
- Someone who naturally says "let's try this" rather than "we've always done it that way"
- Ideally, some exposure to mining or civil environments,
though mindset matters more than a perfect CV
- Comfortable jumping in to help with higher level recruitment when the team needs it
Leadership style that will thrive here
- Leads by influence, not authority, and treats Operations leaders as key stakeholders and internal clients
- Emotionally intelligent and able to flex approach across different personalities and situations
- Able to support leaders while still challenging constructively when it matters
- Hands-on and practical: a genuine doer, comfortable rolling up their sleeves, not a strategist who sits above the work
- Commercially minded but people-focused, with the resilience to handle the pace of rapid growth
If you're commercially minded, people-focused and ready to shape the future recruitment capability of a business that's founder-led and growing rapid, I want to hear from you.
