The Office of the Under Treasurer is seeking applications for two executive office opportunities:
- Executive Officer to the Chief Services Officer, ASO5, Temporary
- Senior Executive Officer to the Deputy Under Treasurer, ASO6, Temporary
Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, the Under Treasurer’s Office, Ministers’ Offices and stakeholders across government, you'll help enable executive decision-making, facilitate stakeholder engagement and ensure the smooth operation of the Department of Treasury and Finance's important leadership functions.

These roles are offered for an initial 12-month period, with the possibility of extension or ongoing appointment.

About your branch
The Office of the Under Treasurer brings together the Under Treasurer, Deputy Under Treasurer, Chief Services Officer, Chief Operating Officer and a team of highly skilled support professionals. The office sits at the centre of Treasury's leadership function, providing strategic coordination,
executive support and advisory services that enable informed decision-making and the delivery of departmental priorities.
The team works in a trusted and collaborative environment, supporting the effective operation of the department's senior leadership offices. It offers a unique opportunity to work closely with executive leaders, contribute to high-profile initiatives and gain exposure to a diverse range of organisational priorities.
What you will do
The ASO5 Executive Officer role provides high-level executive, administrative and organisational support to the Chief Services Officer, ensuring priorities are coordinated and delivered effectively.
The ASO6 Senior Executive Officer role operates at a more strategic level, providing confidential executive and advisory support to the Deputy Under Treasurer, managing complex workflows, sensitive matters and high-priority correspondence requiring sound judgement and discretion.
You will:
- Support senior leaders to deliver key priorities and organisational outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships across DTF, government agencies, ministerial offices and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate executive correspondence, meetings, briefings, travel and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Enable effective information flow, governance and records management across the executive office.
- Apply sound judgement to manage competing priorities, sensitive matters and evolving business needs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen executive office operations and service delivery.
Remuneration
ASO5 ($92,122 - $102,456 p.a) + 12% Super
ASO6 ($105,747 - $111,854 p.a) + 12% Super
What you bring
We're looking for someone who:
- Builds trusted relationships and communicates confidently with people at all levels.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Is highly organised, adaptable and able to exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive or confidential matters.
- Is tech-savvy,
with robust digital skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications and records management systems such as Objective.
- Produces clear, accurate and professional correspondence, reports and briefing materials.
- Takes initiative, solves problems and looks for opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
For the ASO6 Senior Executive Officer opportunity, we're particularly interested in candidates who can also demonstrate:
- Experience supporting senior executives in complex environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
- The ability to manage sensitive, high-priority matters with a high degree of autonomy and judgement.
- An understanding of governance, risk and quality assurance processes.
Highly regarded:
- Experience with Basware and other administrative systems.
- Knowledge of government processes and public sector administration.
