Mental Health Registered Nurses | NT Health Darwin | 12-Month or Ongoing

HealthOne Consulting is seeking experienced Mental Health Registered Nurses for current vacancies with NT Health in Darwin.
These opportunities are available within hospital-based inpatient mental health services. Start dates are negotiable, with a choice of 12-month fixed-term contracts or ongoing employment.
This is an excellent opportunity to relocate to the Northern Territory, broaden your clinical experience within a major public health service and secure direct employment with NT Health.
Recent Zealand-based nurses and other candidates with valid Australian working rights are encouraged to apply. Applicants must already hold AHPRA registration and must not require employer sponsorship.
What’s on Offer
- Salary of $80,665–$107,800 per annum
- Direct employment with NT Health
- Choice of a 12-month contract or ongoing position

- Relocation assistance of up to $6,000 for eligible interstate candidates
- Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 for eligible New Zealand candidates

Accommodation Support
- Ongoing positions or contracts longer than 12 months – 12 weeks’ free accommodation
Additional Allowances
Eligible employees may also receive:
- $1,000 attraction allowance after three months of service
- $1,500 retention allowance after 12 months of service
- A further $1,500 retention allowance after 24 months of service
All incentives, allowances, relocation assistance and accommodation support are subject to eligibility criteria and NT Health conditions.
About the Role
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver contemporary, culturally sensitive nursing care to patients accessing Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care
- Providing safe, responsive and patient-centred mental health care
- Coordinating patient care with the multidisciplinary team
- Maintaining a culturally and psychosocially safe environment
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, carers and colleagues
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement
- Participating in shift work and responding to changing clinical needs
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- At least 12 months’ relevant clinical experience
- Recent hospital-based inpatient mental health nursing experience
- Valid Australian working rights
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- An understanding of culturally safe healthcare practice
- A commitment to ongoing professional development in mental health nursing
- Availability to undertake shift work
Relevant postgraduate mental health nursing qualifications—or evidence that you are working towards them—will be highly regarded.
Successful applicants must also hold or obtain a Working with Children clearance, complete a criminal history check and meet Category A healthcare worker immunisation requirements.
