Support a Major Industrial Shutdown at One of Australia's Leading Ammonium Nitrate Production Facilities

Queensland Nitrates Pty Ltd (QNP) is a state of the art, fully integrated ammonium nitrate production facility and a major supplier to the resources industry. Based 5km east of Moura, Queensland, QNP operates a large scale industrial manufacturing facility focused on safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant / Finance Officer to join our Finance and Commercial team on a 6-month fixed term contract.

This role will provide critical support across Accounts Payable, supplier reconciliations, payment processing and month-end accounting activities during a period of increased operational and project activities associated with QNP's major maintenance shutdown.

The position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a complex industrial manufacturing environment while making an immediate contribution to the effective operation of the finance function.

Drive In Drive Out (DIDO) arrangements are preferred, however Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) arrangements may be considered for suitably experienced candidates.

About the Role

QNP will undertake a major maintenance shutdown during October and November, involving extensive inspection, maintenance, replacement and upgrade activities across the site.

As part of the Finance and Commercial team, you will play a key role in day-to-day finance operations and shutdown-related expenditure management.

The role is hands-on and will suit a finance officer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, can quickly build relationships across the business and has strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing and supplier administration.

- Review and reconcile supplier invoices, purchase orders and supporting documentation.





- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

- Support month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals and reporting activities.

- Maintain accurate financial and administrative records.

- Provide support for shutdown expenditure monitoring and reporting.

- Liaise with operational personnel, shutdown team, and suppliers to resolve invoice and payment queries.

- Support audit and compliance activities.

- Perform general accounting and finance administration duties as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or Business.

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or similar accounting or finance role.

- Experience working within a medium to large organisation.

- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including demonstrable experience working with large datasets and reconciliations.

- Experience using an ERP system such as Pronto, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

- Well developed organisational and time management skills.

- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines during busy operational periods.

- Strong communication skills and a cooperative approach to working with teams across the business.

Desirable

- Experience using Pronto and/or Redmap.

- Experience working in a processing plant, manufacturing, mining or industrial environment.

- Progress towards a CPA or CA qualification.

- Exposure to project accounting, capital expenditure administration or shutdown expenditure management.
