Aquis Park – Home of the Gold Coast Turf Club

Aquis Park, home of the Gold Coast Turf Club, is one of the Gold Coast’s leading entertainment and event destinations. Situated on a stunning 34-hectare site in the heart of Surfers Paradise, just minutes from the beach, our venue hosts over 100 race meetings, corporate events, conferences, gala dinners, weddings, school formals, private celebrations and major community events every year.

We're looking for an energetic, passionate and hands-on Banquets & Events Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and help deliver exceptional experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.

If you're an experienced hospitality leader who thrives in a fast-paced setting and enjoys developing high-performing teams, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As the Banquets & Events Manager, you'll be responsible for leading our front-of-house operations across both race days and non-race day events. You'll oversee staffing, training, event execution and guest service, ensuring every event is delivered to the highest standard.

This is a full-time leadership position where no two days are the same. From premium race days and large-scale conferences to gala dinners and private functions, you'll play a key role in creating memorable experiences while leading a passionate team.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead and manage all front-of-house operations across race days, functions and special events.

Coordinate the day-to-day operation of our Events Centre, ensuring exceptional customer service and operational excellence.

Develop, prepare and manage staff rosters to meet operational and labour budget requirements.

Recruit, onboard, train and develop a high-performing front-of-house team.

Coach, mentor and support employees to build a positive team culture and encourage career development.

Ensure all events are delivered to the highest standard, from setup through to pack down.

Work closely with the Sales, Events, Operations and Culinary teams to ensure seamless event delivery.

Maintain compliance with food safety, RSA, WHS and venue procedures.

Monitor labour costs, productivity and service standards while continually identifying opportunities for improvement.

Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Lead by example on the floor,

ensuring every guest receives an outstanding experience.

About You

You're a confident and approachable leader who enjoys developing people and delivering exceptional service. You remain calm under pressure, have excellent organisational skills and take pride in leading successful events.

You'll ideally have:

Previous leadership experience in hospitality, events or venue management.

Strong front-of-house management experience in a busy events or function venue.

Experience with rostering, workforce planning and labour cost management.

A passion for coaching, training and developing people.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Outstanding organisational and time management abilities.

The ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.

Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.

Availability to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required by the events calendar.

Why Join Aquis Park?

Lead one of the Gold Coast’s most exciting and diverse event venues.

Be part of iconic race days, premium hospitality experiences and major events.

Work with a passionate, supportive and collaborative leadership team.

Make a genuine impact on team culture, guest experience and operational excellence.

Enjoy opportunities for career growth and professional development.

Every day brings a new challenge and a new event—no two days are ever the same.

If you're ready to take the next step in your hospitality leadership career and help shape memorable experiences at one of the Gold Coast’s premier venues, we'd love to hear from you.

Racing on the Gold Coast dates back to the 1890’s when an occasional public meeting was run in the old cane paddocks of Bundall, not far from the present Gold Coast Turf Club.

Regular racing at its present headquarters began on 15 May 1946 when the club was known as the Southport and District Amateur Race Club (formed on 17 March 1946).

Racing in those days was on a sand track.

Hosting approximately 60 race meetings each season, the Gold Coast Turf Club is also home to several highly anticipated major events. The largest event is the Magic Millions Raceday held in January each year as part of the Magic Millions Carnival & Yearling Sale held over 10 days on the Gold Coast.

Other featured events include the prestigious Melbourne Cup Raceday, Prime Minister’s Cup Carnival, Easter Carnival, Gold Coast Stakes Raceday and Gold Coast City Cup Raceday.

The Gold Coast Turf Club has become one of the most sought after function venues on the Gold Coast. Both Raceday and non-raceday functions are held throughout the year in a number of unique venues including the Winners Circle, Dome, Paradise Room, Southern Lawn Marquee, Board Room and the Magic Millions Bar, our major feature events throughout the year are booked out months prior to the day!
