The Team

Located at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides a consultative service supported by a level 4 maternity unit, a level 4 neonatal unit and an 8‑bed intensive care unit. The maternity unit houses the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, with antenatal care also provided at Mersey Community Hospital (MCH) and outreach clinics. Approximately 1,000 births occur annually. The department is staffed by experienced midwives, many of whom are part of the highly sought‑after MGP scheme, and offers outreach services at regional centres including West Coast District Hospital, Smithton District Hospital and King Island District Hospital and Health Centre.

The Role

This position is targeted at highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and are passionate about improving healthcare in a complex system. The role is permanent, full‑time, day‑worker with on‑call duties and permits up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
