About the Role

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will oversee the technical quality, consistency and delivery of structural engineering outcomes across multiple projects, providing senior review, governance and guidance to project teams working on steelwork, reinforced concrete, foundations, equipment supports, platforms, access structures and brownfield modifications.

Key responsibilities include:

- Oversee structural engineering design outcomes for steel and concrete structures across minerals processing plants, materials handling facilities, non-process infrastructure and heavy industrial sites.

- Review and approve structural layouts, general arrangements, design calculations, specifications, technical reports, scopes of work and engineering deliverables to confirm technical quality and consistency.

- Provide principal level input for structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, footings, slabs, equipment foundations, retaining structures, platforms, walkways, stairs, handrails, pipe supports and access arrangements.





- Provide principal-level oversight of structural design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments and technical workshops to support safe, practical and maintainable project outcomes.

- Coordinate structural interfaces with civil, mechanical, electrical, process and controls disciplines to deliver integrated, buildable designs.

- Provide technical governance, mentoring and direction to structural engineers, designers and drafters, including review of drawings, models and calculations.

- Support brownfield assessments, structural inspections, condition assessments, remediation scopes, strengthening works and site-based engineering support.

- Oversee technical input into procurement packages, tender clarifications, contractor queries, vendor document reviews and construction support across assigned projects.

- Respond to RFIs, site queries, design change requests and commissioning or handover issues in collaboration with clients, contractors and internal project teams.

About You

- To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

- Bachelor of Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent recognised qualification.

- Minimum 12–15 years' structural engineering experience, ideally within mining, minerals processing, resources, heavy industry or infrastructure projects.





- Strong practical experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design, including both greenfield and brownfield project environments.

- Demonstrated ability to provide principal-level technical oversight across multiple structural engineering packages from concept through detailed design, procurement, construction support and handover.

- Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, design codes, constructability requirements and safety-in-design principles.

- Experience reviewing calculations, drawings, models, specifications and technical documentation for quality, compliance and practicality.

- Strong communication, stakeholder management and mentoring skills.

- RPEQ, CPEng, site experience, structural inspection experience or brownfield upgrade experience would be highly regarded.
