Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across the Mount Isa region? As part of our Bail Response Program Team, you'll be part of a wrap‑around service that supports the families of young people who have come into contact with the youth justice system. In this varied and challenging role, you'll help give families the tools they need to thrive. We understand that in developing effective working partnerships it is a 'two-way street', so we offer a practice model that respectfully engages clients and provides peer support for the practitioners.

54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.

A place to make a difference:

In this full‑time, maximum term opportunity (through to end of September 2026, with strong potential for extension), you'll work as part of our Bail Response team in Mount Isa to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. You'll work closely alongside external stakeholders to increase and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children, and will be contributing to our ultimate goals of assisting young people to meet the conditions of their bail, decreasing the number of children and young people being remanded in custody, and reducing youth reoffending.

You will make a difference by:

- Working with the families of young people involved in the youth justice system through intensive case work, follow‑up and referrals to other specialist services
- Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard
- Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program, and reviewing client progress towards these goals
- Providing holistic case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged families
- Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program and reviewing progress

Your highly developed cultural awareness and sensitivity, partnered with excellent communication skills, will enable you to build community networks and lasting relationships. You're resilient, not afraid of a challenge, and importantly you're comfortable working in remote and rural settings.
