Contact Centre Operator – 6 Month Contract

Location: Newcastle (onsite)

Pay Rate: $37.50 per hour + Super

Contract Length: 6 months

Start Date: 7 August 2026

We are currently seeking experienced Contact Centre Operators to join a Newcastle-based customer service team on an initial 6-month contract.

This role involves managing a high volume of inbound customer enquiries, providing accurate information and support across either the Road Safety or Travel & Recreation service lines. You will assist customers by resolving enquiries, navigating multiple systems, and delivering a professional, solution-focused customer experience in a fast-paced contact centre environment.

About the Role as a Contact Centre Operator

- Managing a high volume of inbound customer calls and enquiries
- Providing accurate information and guidance to customers
- Identifying customer needs and resolving enquiries efficiently
- Navigating multiple systems to record and update customer information
- Providing professional and empathetic customer service
- Maintaining accurate records and following processes and procedures

About You

- 2–3 years’ experience in customer service, contact centre, administration, retail, or a similar customer-facing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience working in an office workplace
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow processes
- Intermediate computer skills, including:
- Strong typing ability
- Confidence using multiple systems and applications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Teams
- Strong email etiquette

- The ability to quickly learn new systems and technology

Previous government experience is desirable but not essential.

The successful candidates will work a rotating roster across 35 hours per week.



The roster operates on a two-week rotation, with team members working the same shift pattern for a two-week period before transitioning to another shift.

Training & Support

Successful candidates will complete a comprehensive training program, including:

- Two weeks of full-time classroom-based training (35 hours per week)
- A supported nesting period working closely with Subject Matter Experts to build confidence and capability
- Ongoing support from Team Leaders and Subject Matter Experts as you transition into the role independently

Please note, attendance is required onsite every day throughout the training period to ensure you receive the full training experience.
