A newly restructured, greenfields role shaping and implementing Walcha’s tourism strategy. Reporting to the Director Community Services, you will build a strategic approach to grow the visitor economy and position Walcha as a destination in its own right.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, implement and monitor a destination strategy to grow the visitor economy
- Act as Council's specialist point of contact on tourism matters internally and externally
- Foster strong relationships with tourism operators and the Walcha Business Group
- Grow overnight visitation through famils, conferencing, product development and marketing
- Manage Council's digital tourism assets and support the Visitor Information Centre
Who this role suits
- Background in tourism with a track record of growing visitation or outcomes
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills across community and industry
- Ability to see the bigger strategic picture while remaining comfortable in the detail
- Confidence engaging with local government, business groups and community stakeholders
- A tourism-related qualification is desirable but not essential
