What you'll be doing

This position is for a trainee who has at least completed their Introductory Trainee period and has completed their IAAC. The primary purpose of a Trainee in Anaesthesia at Blacktown-Mt Druitt Hospital is to provide anaesthesia services, under supervision, as part of the basic training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Trainees are required to:

- Extend their clinical assessment knowledge and skills to manage patients intraoperatively and perioperatively. Provide holistic and patient‑centred care for low to high complexity patients having low to high complexity surgeries.
- Deliver anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital and rotating hospitals.
- Perform other duties during rotations to other areas as directed.
- Participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics, including:
- Anaesthesia and Sedation
- Regional Anaesthesia
- Airway Management
- Pain Medicine
- Perioperative Medicine
- Resuscitation
- Trauma and Crisis Management
- Obstetric Anaesthesia

Qualifications and Requirements

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Minimum of three (3)



full years of postgraduate experience and some experience in Anaesthesia and Critical Care. Current registration as a trainee with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (or eligible for) and intent to obtain Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Demonstrated commitment to undertaking professional examinations and assessments as prescribed by ANZCA.
- Understanding of and ability to tackle challenges related to maintaining an appropriate balance between clinical work, professional development and private life.
- Possession of personal and skilled attributes necessary to effectively function as an anaesthetic trainee (and later as a consultant anaesthetist).
- Demonstrated progress in the development of technical and non‑technical skills required to fulfill the role of an anaesthetist.
