Supported by Port Stephens Council and managed by a board of nine industry representatives, DPS focuses on activities that strengthen the local visitor economy and enhance lifestyle benefits for the community. The organization’s marketing efforts are funded through council investment, strategic partnerships, grants, and contributions from industry members. DPS plays a central role in driving the success of the region’s tourism sector, which is vital to the area’s economic health.
Role Description
The Digital Marketing Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Nelson Bay, Port Stephens. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing digital campaigns that promote Port Stephens and support member businesses. Day‑to‑day tasks include managing social media channels, updating website content, coordinating email marketing, and implementing online advertising initiatives. The specialist will monitor performance using web analytics tools, prepare regular reports, and recommend improvements based on data insights.
The role also involves collaborating with internal stakeholders and industry partners to ensure consistent messaging and impactful digital marketing across all platforms.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Digital Marketing and Online Marketing, with experience running integrated campaigns across multiple channels.
- Candidates should possess skills in Social Media Marketing, including content creation, community management, and platform optimization.
- Candidates should possess skills in Web Analytics, with the ability to interpret data, track KPIs, and generate actionable insights.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication and stakeholder liaison abilities.
- Relevant experience in tourism, destination marketing, or non‑profit marketing is beneficial.
- Familiarity with content management systems, email marketing platforms, and basic graphic or video editing is an advantage.
- A qualification in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively on‑site, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
