Tourism WA is responsible for promoting Western Australia as a holiday destination. Its focus is on marketing the State; developing, attracting and promoting major sporting, cultural and business events; and supporting the development of significant tourism infrastructure and projects.

About the role

Tourism WA is seeking a highly motivated Cruise Tourism Officer to support the growth of Western Australia's cruise tourism sector.

Reporting to the Cruise Tourism Manager, you will coordinate and support the delivery of Tourism WA's cruise tourism program, including cruise line attraction, shore excursion product development, industry capability building initiatives, and stakeholder engagement activities.

In this role, you will coordinate strategic cruise tourism projects, develop and maintain reports, manage contracts and databases, provide advice to industry and government stakeholders, and support the delivery of initiatives aligned with the WA Cruise Tourism Strategic Plan .

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Experience in project and/or event management, including the ability to deliver agreed outcomes within specified timeframes.
- Knowledge of the characteristics of the WA tourism industry and the trends and influences impacting the industry.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a focus on customer and stakeholders, and an ability to consult effectively at all levels.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to present information clearly, concisely and effectively to a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.

We have one permanent, full time (75hrs p/f) position available.

Location

This role is based at 1 William Street, Perth.

Pre-employment conditions

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, have permanent resident status in Australia or have a visa that allows you to live and work in Australia for the period of your employment contract.
Successful applicants will be required to complete the below prior to commencement:

A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for 'similar' vacancies within CITS and/or the wider public sector which arise within 12 months of the recruitment process being endorsed. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered to fill fixed term, permanent, part time or full-time roles.
