Community Worker - Communities for Children - Part Time

Centacare North Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation delivering counselling, family support, disability services, youth programs, crisis housing, education and community services across North Queensland. We are seeking a Community Worker to join our Communities for Children (C4C) Program in Mount Isa—supporting local families through early intervention, community connection, and capacity building initiatives. This is a part‑time role.

What you’ll enjoy

- SCHADS Level 4 salary $92,286 (pro rata) + $2,500 above award allowance (pro rata) + $200 sign on bonus

Job Description

About the role

This is not your typical “sit behind a desk” role.

You’ll be out in the community:

- Building strong relationships with local services and stakeholders
- Supporting community partners to deliver impactful programs
- Coordinating events, activities,



and initiatives for children and families
- Helping shape responses to local needs through community engagement

You’ll play a key role in strengthening families and supporting children aged 0–12 to thrive.

Desired Skills and Experience

What you’ll bring

- Diploma (or higher) in Community Services, Human Services or similar
- Experience working with families, children or community programs
- Strong relationship‑building and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
- Confidence coordinating activities, events and community initiatives
