We're currently seeking a Casual Childcare Cook to commence in an initial full-time 6-week placement (paid casually), with the opportunity to transition into ongoing ad hoc casual work across our network of Centres throughout Adelaide. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, values flexibility, and takes pride in preparing healthy, delicious meals for children.
About the Role
As a Casual Childcare Cook, you will play an important role in supporting children's health and wellbeing by preparing nutritious meals and snacks that meet dietary and food safety requirements. You'll step into different services as needed, providing valuable support to centre teams. With the initial 6 week role, you will have a kitchen hand to support you during the day
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks.
- Cater for children's allergies, dietary requirements and cultural preferences.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Manage stock rotation, food ordering and kitchen organisation where required.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and centre policies.
- Work collaboratively with educators and centre leadership teams.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, as a minimum
- Experience preparing meals in a childcare, school, aged care or commercial kitchen environment.
- A current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or equivalent food safety qualification
- Knowledge of food hygiene and protected food handling practices.
- A current Working With Children Check.
- A current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- A positive attitude and excellent organisational skills.
