About the role
Intern Pharmacists rotate through a range of clinical and operational areas across the department, gaining broad exposure to hospital pharmacy practice. A structured internship training program supports the completion of all Intern Training Program (ITP) requirements while developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for a successful career in hospital pharmacy. Interns are encouraged to actively participate in departmental initiatives, including antimicrobial stewardship, tertiary referral paediatrics, and pharmacy production services. Through a combination of clinical and operational experiences, interns build a strong foundation in delivering safe, effective, and patient‑centred pharmacy services.

John Hunter Hospital is a leading tertiary referral and teaching hospital in Newcastle, currently undergoing significant redevelopment to support the growing needs of the community. It hosts the busiest Emergency Department in the state and the major trauma centre for Northern NSW, providing care for patients across all stages of life. Requirements
Participate in weekend, public holiday and after‑hour rosters and do overtime as required.
